Can we buy somewhere a replacement Bittle battery? I looked with Google but the one place I found it is out of stock...

It came from the battery. See photo (it is not that clear but something is missing there)... so it is the micro-B USB connector. I will contact support@petoi.com. Much appreciated!
Hi, could you confirm where the USB port comes from? The battery or the programmer? In this case, you can request a free replacement at support@petoi.com.
