My Nybble shipped with an ultrasonic sensor board marked "HC-SR04". It looks different to the ultrasonic sensor board shown in the short assembly video and the long assembly video. It is also different from the one shown in the ultrasonic sensor installation video.
Specifically it has what looks like a crystal oscillator, designated Y1 on the PCB, between the two "eyes". This is the same as the one pictured as part of the "early kit" shown in chapter 2 of the manual. My wooden pieces match the "newest kit". (The ultrasonic sensor board shown in the "newest kit" might also be the same as mine but it's impossible to tell due to a label obscuring the image).
The problem is that the ultrasonic sensor board physically does not fit in the position shown in the videos and images. The PCB is too tall to fit in the designated notch in the "mid" head part. Even if the PCB were not too tall, the "Y1" component would physically collide with the "mid" head part and prevent the board from being installed correctly.
I followed the instructions very carefully but cannot see any way the ultrasonic sensor board can possibly be made to fit without cutting the "mid" head part. As a direct consequence of following the instructions and trying to make it fit, I have snapped my "mid" head part 😭.
What should I do?
Has anyone been able to successfully assemble a Nybble including this ultrasonic sensor board?
Hi,
Please compare these two pictures:
